The phased launch of the tourism industry in compliance with all the recommendations of Rospotrebnadzor (Russisn authority for services supervision) and a competent approach will allow Crimea to extend the holiday season and open up prospects for year-round operation of many more accommodation facilities, − Vadim Volchenko, the head of the Ministry of resorts and Tourism of the Republic of Crimea, is sure. The key advantages of Crimea: why tourists after the pandemic will go to the peninsula >>
"We understand that Russia and Russians will exceedingly need recovery, and if we gradually and calmly start the season in June and July, it will not end either in September or in October. We simply will not have time to accommodate everyone who strives to reach the sea, clean air, and mountains. Therefore, we will have a fairly high occupational rate in these months of autumn. And if we continue to work competently, we will get serious prospects for year-round work", — the Minister expressed his confidence.
He emphasized that tens of thousands of Crimeans work in the tourism sector of the Republic, and much more are involved in related industries, therefore the well-being of the whole Crimea depends on the proper organization of work of the accommodation facilities.
"We have 50 industries related to the resort and tourism sector, we have 40 thousand officially employed in the tourism sector, and another 180 to 300 thousand jobs are also associated with it. These are transport, trade of goods with excise-added value and excursion business that employ a huge number of people, and this is a common opinion that in Crimea everyone is more or less connected with tourism", — the minister said.
He thanked the owners and management of the Crimean tourism industry for their patience and endurance in the situation associated with the restrictive measures introduced due to the pandemic, and assured that the Crimean authorities would not leave this strategically important industry without support.
Flights after the pandemic: what the Federal Air Transport Agency offers >>
"I am grateful to our tourism business for having adequately withstood the situation of constraint, but now it’s June and other decisions need to be made. I want to express the position of the Republic that those health-resort and hotel organizations that have not been supported yet, will be supported. Nobody will give up tourism − this is a clear position of the Head of the Republic. If it is not possible to achieve federal support, then there will be republican measures. And if the lock down period is extended for some of the activities until July 1, this will certainly be compensated, the government is working on it", — the minister assured.
