This travel itinerary covering the territory of the ancient kingdom was developed by the Russian Geographical Society and the participating regions. The route includes Sevastopol and ten cities and towns in the Republic of Crimea, the Krasnodar Territory and the Rostov Region.
The heroic defense of Sevastopol by the Black Sea Fleet, the Seaside army and the population of the city in the period from October 30, 1941 to July 4, 1942 thwarted the strategic plans of the fascist command to capture the Crimea and became an important milestone in the fight against the Nazi invaders during the Great Patriotic war of 1941-1945.
