The essence of the gastro fest is simple. During the month, participating restaurants − and there are more than 30 of them this year − prepare dishes according to the theme declared by the organizers. In turn, residents and guests of the city can simply come any day and, for example, order for lunch or dinner not their usual food, but an original thematic set. This format excludes a large crowd of people. In addition, all the requirements of Rospotrebnadzor (Russian Consumer Protection Authority) will be strictly observed in each restaurant, requiring a mandatory QR code of vaccination or recovery from illness, or a negative PCR test from each visitor.

This year, the key theme of the sets was "Back to the USSR".

"We decided that it would be wrong to ignore the Soviet-time cuisine, because this is a big part of the history of our culture. A crazy gastronomic mix of family and Soviet films recipes, ethnic cuisines, New Year's meals, historical restaurants menus, and plus a little of nostalgia awaits you. All this will be served on your table by the talented chefs of today from our city. There will certainly be draws and gifts as well," the organizers said.

They added that this time two price categories of sets are being developed − 1190 and 1390 rubles (about $16 and $19). Each restaurant prepares one set according to one of the chosen categories.
