The Tvil.ru Russian website for vacation booking interviewed users of social networks and found out what are smells of Russian cities and what scents attract tourists.
Thus, the aroma TOP-10 was headed by the scent of pine needles and the sea in the resort capital of Crimea − Yalta: 29% of tourists voted for this option.
The smell of magnolia in Sochi takes second place, which won 20% of the votes, and St. Petersburg got bronze for the smell of water and cold − 17%.
At the same time, users told what, in their opinion, other cities smell like. Kaliningrad is marzipan, Curonian Spit, amber and the old Koenigsberg. Moscow − metro, construction sites and fast food. Samara – the Volga river, Zhigulevsky brewery and the Shokoladka factory. Suzdal − honey, apples and antiquity. Tula − gingerbread, tea from a samovar and gunpowder. Petrozavodsk − flower sweetness and water, clean air, swamps. Vladivostok − the pungent smell of sea water and algae.
"By the way, perfumers from Kaliningrad decided to develop a collection of fragrances that will symbolize different regions of Russia. The authors of the project suggest that the smell will become one of the elements of the region's identification. The perfume will be sprayed in museums and public places so that people remember the smell and then use it to remember the place they visited. And, of course, the perfume will be a new souvenir," the site analysts noted.
