In 2020 large-scale events dedicated to the 2500th anniversary of the Bosporus will take place in Crimea, Sevastopol, Krasnodar territory and Rostov region − inthose places where the unique tourist route "The Golden Ring of the Bosporus Kingdom" goes.
In 2020 the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol will join the grand celebration of the 2500th anniversary of the Bosporan Kingdom founding, the landmarks of the ancient heritage were included in the "Golden Ring of the Bosporus Kingdom" cross-regional tour route.
Large-scale cultural, scientific, educational, sports and entertainment events will take place in the Krasnodar Territory, Rostov Region and Moscow, the organizing committee of the project informed.
In particular, the "Agons of Bosporus" festivals in Kerch and the "Gorgippia − the Pearl of the Bosporus" festivals in Anapa, the "Gladiators of Rome" show and the "Amazons of the Bosporus Kingdom" in Novorossiysk, as well as the "Wine Roads of the Bosporus Kingdom" festival, which will be held on the venues 25 wineries in four regions of Southern Russia.
"In addition, in 2020, the international forum "Ancient Heritage of Russia" will be held for the first time. The forum will bring together archaeologists and guides, directors of museums and tour operators, public figures and entrepreneurs from Russia, Greece, France, Germany and other countries", — the organizing committee pointed out.
The Golden Ring of the Bosporan Kingdom is a cross-regional tourist route jointly developed by the relevant departments of the Krasnodar Territory, the Republic of Crimea, Sevastopol and the Rostov Region. The project envisages organization of expeditions, tours, conferences, photo exhibitions and festivals. The overall coordination of the project is carried out by the Russian Geographical Society with the support of the Federal Agency for Tourism. The route positions Russia in the international arena as one of the unique centers of ancient culture and civilization. In April President Vladimir Putin mentioned the route as an example of demonstrating the diversity of Russian history.
In November, the "Golden Ring of the Bosporan Kingdom" received the prestigious Traveler`s Award 2019, traditionally held by National Geographic.
According to the results of 2019, more than 1.5 million tourists from Russia, as well as Slovenia, Austria, Germany, Japan, China and other countries visited this tour route.
