The Tavrida, the longest cave in the Crimean Foothills, was discovered 4 years ago and now it is ready to receive and surprise tourists.
"You can get into the underground kingdom, created by nature more than 5 million years ago, as part of an excursion group and arriving on your own," said Gennady Samókhin, project manager.
The tourist site is located just 20 kilometers from Simferopol, near the village of Zuya, Belogorsk district. This is the most accessible cave of all those equipped for tourists in Crimea. You can get to it by regular buses which circulate between the Crimean capital and the town of Belogorsk daily. Transport departs from the Vostochnaya bus station (4 Samokhválova St.) every 5-10 minutes. The bus will stop at the turn to Zuya village. Then you need to walk about 300 meters along the Tavrida highway to the cave of the same name. This is 9 minutes at a leisurely pace, the guides specify.
There is a large parking lot near the cave, about 70 meters there is a toilet with 10 cabins, including a special one for people with limited mobility.
Those wishing to have a snack can drop in a small café with a standard roadside menu: tea, coffee, sandwiches. You can relax on comfortable benches waiting for your turn for a tour.
Guests of the underground kingdom should take warm clothes with them to visit the cave, guides warn. The year-round temperature inside is about +13°C (about 55.5°F).
As for the schedule of the Cave, it will be open from 09:00 a.m. to 07:00 p.m. inclusive, but you can buy a ticket at the box office until 06:10 p.m. So far this is a test mode of operation, the author of the project said.
It is possible that in summer the Cave will become available around the clock or will receive visitors until late, he said.
So far, you can buy tickets only on the spot, near the Cave. Both cash and non-cash payments are possible. The price of an adult ticket is 500 rubles (about $8), a child ticket is 350 rubles (about $5.8).
