Tavrida cave is ready to open: baits for tourists, schedule and prices

The cave is located 20 km from Simferopol, near the village of Zuyá, Byelogórsk district (about 100 meters from the exit from the Tavrida highway).

This is the longest cave in the foothills of Crimea, the length of which is 1,300 meters, and the prospect is probably tens of kilometers! However, only 500 meters of the excursion route are available to visitors so far, which will take an average of 45-50 minutes to walk. This time will be enough to see the most interesting. For example, according to scientists, the Tavrida is about 5 million years old. At the same time, the age of the remains discovered here – those of a saber-toothed cat, markhorn sheep, bisons, porcupines, camels and even a 4-meter ostrich − varies between 1.5-2 million years.

Wandering along the narrow winding paths, you can see not only the bones of ancient predators, but also curious minerals: calcite resembling sparkles, goethite, gypsum, quartz and much more.

The maximum height of the arches in the cave is 14 meters and the width is 10-12 meters.

"The peculiarity of our cave is that for the convenience of visitors, we made the entrance and exit in different places. In addition, the Tavrida floor is horizontal, ups and downs are minimal, and there are no steps. This is the only cave in Russia accessible to people with limited mobility. It is also convenient for the elderly and for parents who bring children in strollers. Another one of our peculiarity is two types of lighting inside: path lighting, dim and artistic lighting, which is controlled with Smart Home system via Wi-Fi," Gennady Samokhin said.

When going on an excursion, do not forget to take something warm with you, because the air temperature there does not exceed +13 degrees all year round.

The cave is waiting for guests from 09:00 a.m. to 07:00 p.m., but later, depending on demand, the work hours can be expanded. By the way, there is also outdoor lighting on the territory − especially for the guests who came late.

A few more pleasant amenities for visitors: a spacious asphalt parking lot of 2,000 square meters, a ticket office and toilets next to the entrance to the underworld kingdom.

In addition, according to Samokhin, in the near future, a Stones of Crimea open-air museum will appear there, next to the parking lot.

"We will show 15-20 large blocks of stones 2-3 meters high and weighing 10-15 tons. Those will be diorites, sandstones, and various types of limestones. That is, the guests will be able to understand and see what Crimea consists of.

This will be the first museum of this kind in Crimea, showing such large stones," the speleologist explained, adding that visiting the museum will be free.

The tickets price to the Tavrida cave: for adults 500 rubles (about $ 9), for children 350 rubles (about $ 6).
