On the first day after the opening of the regular traffic from Kerch to Sevastopol, more than 30 thousand vehicles passed along the Tavrida Highway. This was announced by Grigory Nazarov, the press secretary of the Crimean department of the VAD JSC − general contractor for the construction, on his Facebook page.
According to him, 11,224 vehicles arrived in Crimea, 18,951 vehicles left for mainland Russia.
On this day, Grigory Nazarov added, 15,300 vehicles were recorded on the Simferopol ring road, driving towards Sevastopol or in the opposite direction.
"According to the counter installed on the overpass at the beginning of the ring road, for the period from 08:00 p.m. on August 27 to 08:00 p.m. on August 28, 15,300 vehicles passed along the new 5th section of the Tavrida Highway, of which 10,378 vehicles were heading towards Sevastopol, and 4,922 vehicles were driving in the direction of Kerch. Earlier, before the start of the regular traffic on the four lanes of the Tavrida Highway, all this transit transport could only go through the capital of the Republic", − said the press secretary.
At present, it takes an hour to get from Simferopol to Sevastopol by the Tavrida Highway.
As a reminder: on August 27, Russian President Vladimir Putin opened regular traffic on the Tavrida Highway in Crimea, driving along the new fifth section of the highway.
The highway runs within the boundaries of two Federal entities − the Republic of Crimea and the federal city of Sevastopol. Its length is more than 250 km, the traffic capacity is up to 40 thousand vehicles per day. The speed limit is 120 km/h.
