At the end of the 19th century, the "father" of the Crimean winemaking Lev Golitsyn settled in this unique corner. He founded a champagne winery here, which today is known far beyond the peninsula.

At that time Nicholas II and his family visited Lev Golitsyn. There is a legend that having visited the place and tasted the unique Golitsyn wines, the emperor exclaimed: "I see everything in a new light!" (in Russian "new light" is "noviy svet").
