A plane from Vladivostok landed in Simferopol
Towards the equator of the summer, the peninsula’s main air harbor hopes to fully restore passenger traffic, the performance indicator, which decreased during the period of restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic. They plan to regularly have more than 200 arrivals and departures or 30 thousand passengers per day. Evgeniy Plaksin, Director General of Simferopol International Airport LLC, told this to reporters on Saturday.

He emphasized that after the start of the holiday season in July, the frequency and geography of flights to Crimea recovered to the last year’s level. The route network of flights of the Crimean airport at the beginning of July, like in the last summer, reached 56 destinations. Flights to Crimea are already carried out by 15 airline companies.

"From the second half of June, passenger traffic began to grow gradually, per day we began to receive 30, then 40 aircraft. And from July 1, we have already felt quite serious growth, due to the lifting of restrictions and the fact that hotels and accommodation facilities have started full operation. Passenger traffic is constantly growing and today average flow is 22-23 thousand people per day, and arrivals exceed departures. As we feel, approximately by July 15th we will level off and switch to smooth work, serving about 30 thousand people a day", — said Plaksin.

Earlier, Minister of Resorts and Tourism of the Republic of Crimea Vadim Volchenko said that in the first 10 days from the start of the holiday season, Crimea received about 400 thousand tourists. In total, in July it is expected that about 1.5 million people will come for vacations to the peninsula. At the same time, the price of air travel decreased on average by 15-25%, depending on the route.
