After a long enforced "idle period", caused by the coronavirus pandemic and the imposed restrictions, Crimea faced the rapidly increasing tourist flow. Since the beginning of the holiday season, about 400 thousand tourists have come for vacations in the region. This was announced to journalists by the Minister of Resorts and Tourism of the Republic of Crimea Vadim Volchenko on Saturday.
"According to our data, the cost of air travel decreased on average from 15 to 25 percent, depending on the route. And as for the tourist flow, only in the first 10 days Crimea received 400 thousand tourists. In July we expect to receive up to 1.5 million − the figures are comparable to last year".
The Minister emphasized that a successful holiday season in Crimea and its prolongation for the autumn could correct the tourism statistics by the end of the year, which fell at the start due to the situation with a new coronavirus infection.
