During the long May holidays, Crimea was in unprecedented demand among Russian tourists. Analysts of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia recorded an increase in tourist inflow by 70%. This was announced by the executive director of ATOR Maya Lomidze during a press conference in the format of a TV bridge Moscow-Simferopol.
"The success and surge in demand, which we saw during the May holidays, did not surprise anyone. It was clear that the figures would be significant, the dynamics would be positive, but + 70% demonstrated by Crimea and up to + 50% on average at all resorts in the Krasnodar Territory is, in my opinion, a phenomenal success even in the current circumstances. We can say that the May holidays were very successful, the tourists were satisfied," M. Lomidze said.

An increase in tourist inflow was also recorded in other regions of Russia ― the Leningrad Region, the Volga District, Siberia and others. This indicates that now "domestic tourism is booming," said the head of the ATOR. And experts believe that in the summer the demand for recreation in the Black Sea resorts and travel to other cities of our country will not change.
As previously reported, more than 520 thousand people spent their vacations in Crimea during the May holidays. This is a record number of tourists for the entire post-Soviet period.
