Last year, the sector experienced maximum strain in all spheres, when the increase in tourist traffic compared to 2019 reached 40%. And this season we are ready for this. This was announced by the Minister of Resorts and Tourism of the Republic of Crimea Vadim Volchenko at a plenary session within the framework of the "Achievement. New Time" republican business forum in Alushta.
The main topic of the second day of the forum was the development of domestic tourism and the hospitality industry in the Republic of Crimea. Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Crimea ― Minister of Finance of the Republic of Crimea Irina Kiviko and Chairman of the Committee of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea on budgetary and financial, investment and tax policy Olga Vinogradova also spoke at the plenary session.
"According to Rosstat (Federal Statistics Committee), Crimea is the only region in the country that shown an increase in gross income from the tourism sector, and quite significant ― by 9.5%. And direct tax revenues increased by 2.5% and account for more than 7.8% of the total income of the region. At the same time, the multiplier effect makes up to 25-35% in the gross income of the region from tourism," said Vadim Volchenko.
In general, over the past 7 years, 44 new hotels have been opened in the region with more than 3 thousand new rooms, 334 accommodation facilities have been reconstructed and put into operation and 30 completely new tourist attractions were introduced. The number of beaches has increased from 260 in 2014 to 455 modern well equipped beaches in 2020.
"If we talk about this season, we have planned a large number of events, but we cannot fully announce them now due to the fact that not all the restrictions of Rospotrebnadzor (Federal Authority for Consumer Protection) have been lifted," said Vadim Volchenko.
"Achievement. New Time" forum is a modern discussion platform where representatives of non-government organizations, business and government agencies can coordinate interaction with small and medium-sized businesses in order to develop favorable conditions for entrepreneurship in Crimea. The annual republican Forum is supported by the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Crimea and the Ministry of Economic Development of the Republic of Crimea.
