Commemorative events in the framework of the Year of memory and glory in the Republic of Crimea have already started. The All-Russian "Bread of Blockade" campaign took place in the municipalities, where Crimeans and guests of the peninsula were reminded of the main milestones of the Great Patriotic War, about the feat of the Leningrad inhabitants who defended the city at the cost of their health and even lives. The next in the row of events will be "Faces of Victory" − action in which the archive materials about the late and still alive veterans of that war will be published, said the Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Crimea − Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic Elena Romanovskaya.
"Thanks to this project, our students and our youth will know who lives next to them, what feats they accomplished during the years of World War II. At present, 709 combatants live in Crimea: partisans, underground resistance members and everyone who took part in the war", — said Romanovskaya.
The Garden of Memory federal campaign will also be held in Crimea. It implies planting of 27 million trees throughout the country − one tree for every person who died in the war to remember them all by.
"The action will be held from March 18 to June 22, but we believe that this action has no time limits. Throughout the year, we can plant different types of trees, and we call our authorities and social groups to join this story and take part in tree planting", — said the Deputy Prime Minister.
The Victory Train traditional campaign. The train will travel from Brest to Vladivostok. The Crimean part of the campaign will start on June 1, 2020. The Victory Train will cross the peninsula from the Hero city of Kerch to the Hero city of Sevastopol.
In addition, the Road to Yalta international music festival will be held as part of commemorative events in Crimea.
"Presently, it will be held only in a virtual mode as a musical performance in various languages of the victorious soldiers songs. The festival final stage will be held in Yalta, with about 6 thousand of participants. It is planned to begin on April 30 and end at the end of this year. All this will be broadcast on TV, and I hope that thanks to this project our whole country and the whole world will learn about our heroic Crimea, and what songs the Crimeans sang during the war and liberation of the peninsula", — said Romanovskaya.
In addition, the anniversary of the Victory theater, the June 22 all-Russian action, the Fight for Victory historical show, and Lessons from Nuremberg international scientific conference will be held on the peninsula in the Year of Memory and Glory.
"The Crimean peninsula is the only part of the Russian Federation on the territory of which there are two Hero cities. And we do not have the right to disappoint our Great Patriotic War veterans by losing the memory of their historical feats that they performed during the war", — Romanovskaya summed up.
