Aeroexpress will connect the international airport of Simferopol with the hero city of Sevastopol. For this, it is necessary to lay 11 km of new railway. A feasibility study is now being prepared. This was stated by the Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov during a ‘direct line’ with the residents of the region.
"Decision is made. 11 kilometers must be laid to our station. And then, already on the existing railway network, the Aeroexpress will connect the airport with Sevastopol. We have a common position with Mikhail Vladimirovich Razvozhaev, we actively maintain working relations in this aspect, so everything will be implemented. The Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation fully supports this project. Literally within six months we will present all the feasibility studies and terms of implementation," the Head of Crimea said.
He added that the implementation of this project will require about 4.5 billion rubles (based on the results of the experts estimates). Among the indisputable advantages of launching the Aeroexpress, he named the ability to quickly get to the destination, as well as the high level of service.
"We already see that now you can get to Sevastopol rather quickly by the Tavrida highway, at least much faster than it was before. And if an Aeroexpress train appears… It is speed, accessibility, and no traffic jams − it arrives exactly on schedule," Sergei Aksyonov summed up.
