"Vacations in 2021 are planned at the last moment: 91% of tourists buy plane tickets a maximum of a month before departure, − by 3% tickets less than in in 2019. The advance bookings are returning to pre-pandemic levels, but the differences are still noticeable. In the first half of 2019, 12% of bookings were placed six months before the departure date, and now there are just a little more than 8% of them," the experts noted.
Interest in domestic tourism continues to grow. If in 2019 16% of air tickets were purchased for flights abroad, now their share does not exceed 4%. The demand for hotels of 3* to 5* categories and apartments is increasing, because there, experts emphasize, it is easier to follow the rules of disinfection and social distancing. So, if in 2019 26% of bookings were for non-star accommodations, this year their share decreased by 21%.
