Tulip parade in Crimea: when to see the peak of blooming and vote for the general of the parade

One of the most beautiful events of spring in Crimea − the tulip parade − has started in the Nikitsky Botanical Garden. This year, they have planted 80,000 flowers of more than 200 varieties. Just like last year, guests can vote for the best flowering candidate they think deserves the title of a general.
As the press secretary of the NBG Elena Golovanova told the Travel Portal, the start of the parade was not a pomp ceremony, since mass events are still prohibited due to the epidemiological situation. And from today, Internet voting is open.
"We shell publish on our website and in social networks the most attractive varieties. And everyone can vote online for the general, as was the case last year," Elena Golovanova explained.
As the senior researcher, curator of the NBG tulip collection Lyudmila Aleksandrova told the Travel Portal, 80 thousand flowers of 220 varieties have been planted this year − these are early-, medium- and late-flowering varieties.
"We had a few early and late blooming flowers this year and our breeders did not work with them as intensively as with medium-flowering varieties. That is why we have mostly medium-flowering ones. Although they do not bloom simultaneously, they bloom for a long time. What's more interesting − the exhibition features a large number of double tulips of early and late varieties. They also bloom for a long time – as long as the parade lasts. If the weather is favorable − up to 20 days. I think in a week there will be a peak of blooming," Lyudmila Aleksandrova summed up.
