The number of tourists who visited Crimea from the beginning of this year already exceeded 6,5 million. The head of the Republic Sergey Aksenov reported this on his page on Facebook, congratulating the residents and guests of the peninsula and also all professionals on the world tourism day.
Sergei Aksyonov emphasized that tourism sector is one of the priorities in the region. This year, about 80 health-resorts and hotels have been renovated; the projects to create tourist and recreational clusters in Eupatoria, Koktebel, Gurzuf, Saki, in the Chernomorsky and Leninsky districts are in the process of implementation.
According to the head of Crimea, along with beach tourism, therapeutic and gastronomic, sightseeing and educational, historical and ethnographic, as well as event tourism are developing, and this makes the peninsula an even more attractive region for guests.
Sergei Aksyonov also emphasized that the resort potential of Crimea is huge, and the strategic goal of the Crimea Republic authorities is to "turn the peninsula into an international year-round tourist center of Russia, combining the advantages of the best foreign resorts and the best domestic experience".
