The trail runs from Yalta along the left side of the Uchan-Su valley to the Stavri-Kaya cliff. It is part of the Yalta Mountain and Forest Nature Reserve. The Botkin trail was named after the famous doctor Sergei Botkin, who praised the therapeutic properties of the climate on the southern coast of Crimea. It was created in 1901-1902 by the Yalta branch of the Crimean and Caucasus Mountain Club, after the doctor's death. There are benches and navigation signs along the entire 4.6-kilometre-long trail.
