The Devil's Staircase, or Shaitan-Merdven, is located near the village of Oliva on the southern coast of Crimea. The road from the sea to the mountain pass goes through a steep gorge, which resembles giant stone steps in some places. A lot of famous people have been here, including Alexander Pushkin, Alexander Griboyedov, Vasily Zhukovsky, Ivan Bunin and Valery Bryusov. The pass ends at 578 m above the sea. Shaitan-Merdven is a natural and historical landmark.
