A long spit in the northeastern Crimea separates the Sivash Gulf from the Azov Sea. It is mostly made up of small shells. The spit is over 100 km long and ranging in width from 270 m to 8 km. People come here to relax and fish but also to enjoy the therapeutic Sivash water and mud (Sivash is sometimes called the Rotten Sea). It is a great place to surf.
