Belbek Canyon is a natural landmark in the Crimean Mountains. Located in the Bakhchisarai District, it covers an area of 100 ha. The current maximum depth of the canyon is 160 m and it is 300 m wide and at least 5 km long. The diverse flora on its slopes includes sessile oaks, downy oaks, Oriental hornbeams, dogwood, dog roses and Jerusalem thorns. A primeval yew grove grows on one of the canyon's southwestern slopes.
