The ornithological branch of the Crimean nature reserve is located on the islands in the Karkinit Bay in the Black Sea, near the village of Razdolnoye. Shallow water and abundant food attract a lot of birds, mostly waterfowl. The list of birds sighted near Lebyazhy Islands includes 255 species. This is among the biggest overwintering sites for migrating swans, which gave the islands their name (‘Lebyazhy' means ‘swans').
