It is located in the village of Skalistoyeh between Simferopol and Bakhchisaray. Better known as the Martian Lake. The reservoir received this name due to its shape, azure color of the water and almost complete absence of vegetation on the shore − here it seems that you are on another planet.
The lake was formed on the site of a limestone quarry, where springs of the purest fresh water appeared here several decades ago. The reservoir is in the foothills area and has an almost regular rectangular shape, it is 430 meters long and 190 meters wide. The depth in some points is about 10 meters.
