Prince Leo Golitsyn established thus winery in his Novy Svet estate in 1878. He wanted to produce sparkling wine that would be equal in quality to French champagne. The factory was presented to Emperor Nicholas II during his visit to Novy Svet in 1912 and nationalised after the 1917 revolution. The winery continues producing high quality wines and conducts tours and wine tasting.
