One of the oldest museums in Crimea, Kerch History and Archaeology Museum opened in 1826. The museum holds more than 240,000 items found in the city area. The display takes up seven rooms, each devoted to a period in history of the Bosporan Kingdom, from Antiquity to the Middle Ages. There is also an exhibition on the history of the defence of the Adzhimushkai quarries in May-October 1942, and the Museum of the Kerch-Eltigen amphibious offensive operation.
