The museum opened in 1869 at the initiative of defenders of Sevastopol in the Crimean War. The museum's collection was displayed at General Eduard Totleben's house for the first 25 years. A special building was erected for the museum in 1895, which still remains one of the most beautiful architectural landmarks in Sevastopol. It was designed by a famous St Petersburg architect Alexander Kochetov. Over its140-year history the museum has become a true treasury of military artefacts that show all stages in the development of the Black Sea Navy since its foundation until today.

Open Wednesday to Sunday, 10 am to 4 pm
