The museum is situated a beautiful four-storey edifice built in the late 19th century on the order of a "personal honourary citizen of Sevastopol" merchant Semyon Gavalov. The building was badly damaged during World War II but later restored. The museum collections include over 10,000 pieces: paintings, drawings and sculptures from 16th-20th centuries. The building is currently undergoing renovations, and the exhibits are temporarily displayed at 70 Generala Ostryakova Prospekt.

Open Wednesday to Monday, 10 am to 5 pm (September to May), Wednesday to Monday, 11 am to 6 pm (June to August)
