Its activity as a center for the development of national music and the popularization of classical musical culture started in 1939. During the Great Patriotic War, the activities of the Philharmonic Society were suspended. However, in May 1944, immediately after the liberation of Crimea, the artists gave their first concerts at the specially constructed outdoor stages.
Today, the Crimean Philharmonic unites both professionals of the musical art and promising young performers. The Philharmonic creative team numbers over 500 members. The institution includes a symphony orchestra, Tavrichesky Blagovest chamber choir, Khaitarma − Crimean Tatar song and dance ensemble, Slavia vocal ensemble, soloists-vocalists, etc.
The Philharmonic has two own venues − in Simferopol and in Eupatoria. The musicians also travel with concerts.
