The highest point in Crimea (1,545 m), the mountain is located in Babugan yaila (plateau) near Gurzuf in the Crimean Nature Reserve. There are a lot of forests on its slopes, where a herd of deer, boars or mufflon can often be seen. The animals are not afraid of people in this protected area. A relict birch grove, which has remained in Crimea despite the warm climate since the ice age, borders the slope from the north.
