The acropolis of the ancient city of Panticapaeum was built on Mount Mithridat 2,500 years ago. The majority of artefacts found during archaeological excavations are on display at the Kerch History and Archaeology Museum. At one time, a replica of the Athenian Temple of Theseus on top of the mountain housed an antiquities museum. A large staircase leading to the temple was built in the 19th century by Italian architect Alexander Digby. Currently, the staircase is being renovated.
Mount Mithridat offers a panoramic view of Kerch.
